Aylen RICCA has been a lecturer at Universit\u00e9 \u00c9vry – Paris Saclay since September 1, 2024.<\/p>\n

She has joined the IRA2 team in the IBISC Laboratory.<\/p>\n

After studying software engineering at the Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda de l’Universidad de la Rep\u00fablica (Uruguay) and completing a Master’s degree in Virtual Reality and Intelligent Systems (E3A) at the Universit\u00e9 d’\u00c9vry – Paris-Saclay, she completed a PhD in computer science in the fields of human-computer interaction and virtual reality applied to medical simulation, within the IBISC Laboratory (IRA2 team). Subsequently, Aylen consolidated her teaching and research skills by holding positions as ATER and teacher-researcher at the University of Evry (IBISC Laboratory), Arts et M\u00e9tiers (LISPEN Laboratory), IMT Atlantique (LS2N Laboratory) and the ESIEA engineering school.<\/p>\n

Aylen Ricca’s research focuses on the design and evaluation of immersive environments for human learning, with applications in healthcare and industry. More specifically, her research focuses on the study of interaction fidelity in virtual reality systems, with a view to improving the learning of technical gestures. In particular, she explores the impact of the fidelity of immersive simulators on knowledge retention and the transferability of acquired skills to real-life situations. This work includes the development of interactive models, the integration of haptic and motion capture technologies, and the analysis of user behavior to improve immersive interfaces. In the healthcare field, his contributions focus on the design of simulators for training medical professionals, such as the simulation of surgical gestures or emergency interventions. In the industrial sector, his research focuses on the creation of virtual reality systems for training in maintenance, assembly and other complex processes. His work aims to establish rigorous methodologies for evaluating these environments, combining experimental approaches, models of human-machine interaction and principles derived from immersive pedagogy.<\/p>\n

The project led by Aylen Ricca within the IRA2 team revolves around the integration of physical systems (e.g. medical mannequins), haptic devices and virtual or mixed reality environments to improve training in surgical techniques. The aim is to conduct research designed to enhance the effectiveness of medical training and facilitate the transfer of acquired skills to real-life situations.<\/p>\n<\/div>
