Guillaume Loup

Associate professor in the IRA2 team in IBISC Lab at the University of Évry Paris-Saclay.

With a Master's degree in Virtual Reality since 2010. I began my research career working on several national and European projects, including the ANR OpenViBE2 and the 3DLive project, before completing my Ph.D. at the LIUM laboratory (Le Mans University) as part of the ANR JEN.Lab project, focusing on the design of pervasive digital epistemic games. This work allowed me to specialize in the field of Virtual Environments for Human Learning (VEHL).

Since 2019, I am an Associate Professor at the University of Évry Paris-Saclay, IBISC Lab IRA2 Team, where I also serve as head of the Master's program in Virtual Reality and Intelligent Systems. I have supervised three Ph.D. students and contributed to several research projects, including CESSAR-AVC, DRIFT-FH, and MASTERS.

My works is based on 2 axes of research:
My first research focus is on the narrative design of VEHL. In this context, I coordinated the WIXAR project to develop a new architecture and interface for an immersive authoring tool based on panoramic video. The REVERSE project, developed in collaboration with the military, healthcare professionals, and a disability foundation, aimed to create a debriefing system for VEHL. These initiatives led to multiple experimental studies and high-ranking publications.
A second research axis explores interaction techniques, particularly the integration of multisensory devices in immersive virtual environments. Current work includes the development of a VR headset-based olfactory diffusion system, in collaboration with a geriatrician and the company Olfy.

Since 2024, I have also been serving as President of the French Association for Extended Reality (AFXR), supporting the development and visibility of immersive technologies across academic, industrial, and cultural sectors.
