Samia Bouchafa graduated from Computer Science National Institute (Algiers) in 1993. She received the
MS degree in Robotics from University Pierre et Marie Curie in 1994 and in 1998 the PhD degree (highest
honours) in electrical and computer engineering from University Paris Pierre et Marie Curie and IFSTTAR.
Her thesis work was undertaken in the framework of the European project CROMATICA (DG XIII), dealing
with crowd monitoring by image processing in the subway. In 1999, she has been an assistant professor
at University Paris Sud (IEF Lab) then an associate professor in 2011. In 2011, she was employed for one
year by the french institute of science and technology for transport, development and networks (IFSTTAR).
Since 2012, she has a full professor position at University of Evry Val d’Essonne. She is managing the
first and second year of the Master "Automated mobile systems" of university Paris-Saclay while she was
elected to co-direct the IBISC Laboratory. Her research interests include robust primitive extraction and
decision strategy for image matching applied to motion analysis, registration or stereovision. Currently, she
focuses on cumulative and voting decision strategies for motion or stereo based applications in the context
of automatic driver assistance systems. She has supervised 10 Phd thesis. She has been involved on the
technical program committee of several conferences : "International Conference On Neural Computation"
2010 and 2011, IEEE "International Conference on Machine and Web Intelligence" 2010, IEEE "International
Conference on Networking Sensing and Control" ICNSC 2013, IEEE "International Conference On Image
Prcessing Theory Tools and Applications" IPTA 2014, Intelligent Transportation Systems IEEE ITSC 2017,
1st IEEE International Symposium on Last Mile Smart Mobility en 2016. Since 2017, she is responsible for
IBISC lab of the French Agency/DGA Project LOCA3D that was selected in the framework of the challenge
MALIN (Indoor Person Positioning Challenge MAîtrise de la Localisation INdoor).
