Environnements Virtuels et de Réalité Augmentée

Virtual and Augmented Reality Environments

  • étude et conception de simulateurs chirurgicaux en réalité virtuelle ;
  • systèmes de rééducation fonctionnelle en réalité virtuelle et augmentée ;

EVR@ (Virtual and Augmented Reality Environments) is the experimental platform where IBISC’s IRA2 team tests its research models: multimodal mixed-reality assistance to humans for learning motor, mental or group skills. Its motto: humans are at the centre of the process.

Inaugurated in May 2004 in the presence of its funders (UEVE, Essonne County Council, CNRS), EVR@ is the virtual and augmented reality platform of the Université d’Évry. It serves research, teaching and outreach to a wide audience: researchers, industry, students, high-school pupils and families.

A platform of the ANR CONTINUUM research infrastructure

Since March 2025, through CONTINUUM+ (the opening of the project to new platforms), EVR@ has been one of the platforms of CONTINUUM (Collaborative Continuity from Digital to Human, ANR-21-ESRE-0030), a collaborative research infrastructure of 30 platforms and 37 research teams, funded as an Equipex+ research infrastructure and coordinated by CNRS from 2021 to 2029. It puts humans at the centre of data processing workflows. For IBISC, Samir Otmane is the project lead and sits on the structuring committees, and Frédéric Davesne on the technical committees. EVR@ contributes its scientific and technical expertise in:

  • the study and design of VR-based surgical simulators;
  • VR- and AR-based functional rehabilitation systems;
  • human–robot interaction systems (humanoids, manipulators) and exoskeletons.

Outlook: multi-site, multi-platform projects and experiments in remote collaborative work with the other partners, and the renewal of part of the equipment, in particular the immersive system (CAVE).
