Titre: The future of mobility for today and future cities – an overview about QMIC’s related activities.

Résumé:

Dr. Hamid Menouar will share with us an overview about the role of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV) in enabling the next generation Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and road-safety, with highlighting some of the related challenges. He will also present the related activities and projects, such as QatarV2X and DroneITS, by Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) in Qatar.

Biographie:
Dr. Hamid Menouar is a Senior R&D Expert at Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC), where he leads different initiatives and projects in the areas of intelligent mobility and Smart Cities. Dr. Hamid has more than 13 years of solid international multidisciplinary experience that started in with Hitachi in France back in 2005. He has heavily contributed to the standardization and validation activities of the connected vehicles communication technologies and applications in Europe. In late 2010, he moved to Qatar to contribute to and lead interesting initiatives in the areas of intelligent transport systems and smart cities. He has been leading the design and the development of several smart solutions that have been deployed in the field. He is leading the Qatar V2X project which aims at implementing and deploying the first large scale connected vehicles pilot in the MENA and Turkey region. He is also leading another project that aims at using unmanned aerial vehicles (Drones) to automate some functions on the roads and contribute in enabling automation of transportation and mobility (next generation intelligent transport systems).
Dr. Hamid also holds a long record of research outcomes, including patents, research publications, proof of concepts, innovative products and solutions in trending areas that include: Smart Cities and Smart Living, Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV), Internet of Things (IoT), Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Road Safety, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs/Drones), Indoor localization and Wayfinding, and Blockchain.
